The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride is an annual worldwide event to help raise funds and awareness for men's mental health and prostate cancer.
The event was founded in 2012 and has gone from strength to strength - growing in popularity and raising more funds each year. Partnered with the Movember Foundation and sponsored by Triumph Motorcycles and Zenith Watches, this years ride was bigger than ever - with over 112,000 registered riders worldwide and a total of over £4,000,000 raised (and still climbing as I type this!)
This year I once again took part in the Leeds ride.
With a combined force of over 200 riders and a total raised of nearly £13,000, we donned tweed, polished chrome, fired up the engines and turned heads as we cruised the streets of Leeds in style. If the tweed and waxed jackets didn't draw interest, the machines certainly did - with motorcycles from the 30's up to the present day, there was something to suit everyone's taste.
With a few stop offs (and appreciated hospitality) at Golden Acre Park and Roundhay Park we completed our loop and finished back at the starting point of Cardigan Fields. A shout out must be given to Five Guys for generously dishing out bags full of free fries for all the riders.
An awesome day and an awesome ride.
Once again, a huge thank you to all the event organisers and sponsors for making it happen.
And a massive pat on the back to Andy Cavell - not just for all his hard work, but especially for letting his highest donor (RS Motorcycles) shave his head in front of the crowd at Roundhay Park. Mate - the laughs were worth your pain!
I'll be back next year - hopefully I'll see you there!
