What's your name and where are you from? Ricky Graham. Born and raised in Rotherham. I lived in Sheffield for a short while, but soon came back to Rotherham. What do you do at the Boneyard? I make bolt on parts for motorcycles - mainly Harley Sportsters. What made you decide to start it? The reason this started was the increase in internet posts showing broken parts they had bought. Simple parts that shouldn’t be breaking if made right. Which builds/builders inspire you? I take inspiration from anyone and anywhere. The internet makes it easy to see what’s about, but I have an interest in cars also - so that helps too. Although what I do isn’t that creative yet -my main concern is parts being reliable. How long have you been making parts? Boneyard garage started 2 months ago. I’m a self taught garage tinkerer that started when I was 16 when I got my first moped! Is it a full time thing, or a spare time gig? Part time. And I think it will always be part time. I have a full time job that I love and it would take something special for me to let that go. Is everything made using local suppliers and machinists? Yeah. I pick the materials up in person and the guys i deal with are people I have known for years. Are you planning on expanding what you're doing or making parts for other models? Sportster parts have been easy to sort out as that’s the bike I have. I have plans to make things for other bikes and I’m open to any requests if people want one-offs. I'm working on some universal parts at the minute. What parts are in the pipeline? I really need to get on with making more sissy bars and handlebars. What's the biggest f**k up you've made when making something? Slicing my hand with my grinder haha. Parts that don’t go right just go in the bin. What's your long term goal for the Boneyard? I don’t have a goal for the boneyard. It’s grown naturally and that’s how I want it to be. I don’t have much time so the garage has to work around me. How long have you been riding? Off road bikes since early teens. Then mopeds at 16. I got distracted by cars after that and then did my bike test in 2010. What do you ride / who do you ride with? I ride a 2015 Harley Forty Eight. I ride with my girlfriend on the back pretty much 90% of the time. I really don’t like group riding - I like to go at my own pace and the route I want. So, that's it folks - a homegrown, garage builder who doesn't pretend to be something he's not. If you're after some parts, check his website out HERE.
I picked up a few bits myself and will be doing a little review when I've taken them for a test ride. Cheers for taking the time to chat Ricky. Here's some snaps of the Boneyard.
